Arts and Disability Project, Baucau district, 2010-2011.

MHI was pleased to host Australian social worker Sarah Daley in 2011 and support her 12 month placement as an Australian Youth Ambassador for Development with disability organisation Katilosa in Baucau. Sarah developed a number of projects with Katilosa staff and their clients, including an arts-based playgroup for children with disabilities and a radio play about the rights of people with a disability. Sarah’s placement was initiated by Arts Access Australia and was supported by Austraining and AusAID through the Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development (AYAD) Program. MHI supporters provided a large shipment of toys and educational equipment to Katilosa. Katilosa’s Director Laurentino Guterres commented that he valued Sarah’s contribution so much that hoped for another volunteer exactly like Sarah for his next AYAD!
